DHL= Worst Company Ever

It all started two weeks ago when Levi tried to send me something for my birthday. It didn't get delivered because the package contained salad dressing along with my present. I got a slip that I needed to go to the airport to pick up my package. I called and they explained, in spanish because the english helpline didn't understand me when i asked questions in english, that I needed to hire a customs agent to help me get my package. They gave me two numbers, one for the university where some professors taught about import laws, the other a home number of a confused woman. So I had Virginia, my landlady call, and she told them they were ruining my birthday etc. to no end and finally I was told that Levi could reclaim the package. because, really, DHL should know that you can't send food if there will be problems. The other present would have had no problem getting through, but Levi has also put a bottle of salad dressing in there for me, since I miss it. So I tell him, he calls DHl, they say they are starting the process, will call. 2 days later still no call he calls them and they say no, he has to go to the store where he shipped from they have no record of him asking for the box to be returned. So he goes to the store and it will be really expensive for him to have it returned, and he tells me he has put a lot of thought and effort into this package and it is really important that I have it on my birthday. So yesterday, 2 weeks after this package arrived, I went to see 2 different customs officials, and they both told me that they couldn't really help, that I should just go down and get the package. (I am shortening the stress and amount of conversations and, of course, build up about what could be in the package etc...) So today I hired a remis, which is like a taxi with set rates, to take me to the apirport. But it turned out that instead I had to go to another office first to buy the original packing slip - 221 pesos (71 dollars). Next my day goes like this:
Get to Ezeiza, park the car
Walk into first building, shown to next building, given a ticket
Walk to B2 Shiping, 100 meters away
Go first to Room 2-asked how long I have been here, I say 10 months, given papers
Next Room 1-shuffle, stamp
Room 3-asked how long I've been here, I say 10 months, shuffle, stamp
Photocopy area-copy
Room 3-shuffle, stamp
Past photocopies to the package-open everthing, tell me that if I was there 6 months or less they could waive the fees, but since I wasn't I have to pay import tax on the food. Food=1 bottle salad dressing, gum.
Room 3 told I have to pay another 152 pesos (50 dollars) in taxes
Room 2 give me a paper to go to the bank to pay
Bank-back out 100 meters where the ticket lady was, but in the building ajacent, pay
Back to room 2-waiting for info to come through on the computer
Wait outside in open-air corridor, freezing
Room 2 get the paper, told to go to room 1
Room 1-system down. I ask "When do I get my package!!!" they tell me I am almost done. But their system is down so I have to wait outside again.
Room 1 system up, I have to pay another 147 pesos (50 dollars) in food tax. For one bottle of dressing.
Room 3-shuffle sign stamp
Room 1-look at papers
Back past photocopy to get package
Get package given 2 papers, one a receipt, one give to customs officials when I leave
Leave out far gate, give papers, have the package.
Get in Remis, open box again and read letter from Levi, needing something nice at this point, and there's a list of things he loves about me. One that stands out, "don't try to hide when you're mad." Well, he would really love me today.
Pull up on front of the house remis calls headquarters for the bill, charges me (33 dollars) 97 pesos for the day.
The gift: A certificate from the International Star Registry saying that Levi has named a star for me. So romantic! I love it.
Total hours today 3, overall-?
Total price-615 pesos, or 205 dollars! (Put into perspective, I am taking 20 hours a week of spanish classes for 110 dollars. My weekly grocery bill is probably around 20 dollars. Average sweater, 7 dollars. Movie, 2 dollars. The average Argentine makes 180 dollars in a month.)
Is that insane or what? And, the worst part, I wish I had my camera with me, there were probably 10,000 boxes in there waiting to be picked up. I am so upset, and you can bank on the fact that I am saving my receipts to file a formal complaint with DHL when I get home-I had to pay all this out of my pocket to receive my own goddamn birthday present!
Fucking ridiculous.

DeFiNiteLy tHe WoRSt ~

UNEXPECTEDLY POOR service, I couldn't believe it !!! I ordered something from Amazon (Japan) and supposingly it arrived on Tuesday. (I found out later that night that I've actually missed the delivery of the package). Called 1800-CALL-DHL the day after (Wednesday) and asked why I didn't get a call from home or a knock at the door or anything and they told me that Amazon didn't write my Suite/Apt. number down so they couldn't have gotten it to me... but I mean, the person has my name on the package and my name with the call number is clearly written on a board but they told me the delivery person doesn't have time to check or call (not even 1 minute to check? Calling is the only option to entering an apt, checking my name on the board just add another minute or so). Anyways, I ignored that and arranged a time for delivery, paid the fee (extra fee for arranging another delivery I believe?) with a VISA card and the staff told me that it's going to arrive the day after (very sure); okay, waited at home full-day yesterday (Thursday), nobody came no package came, called and asked and the staff told me packages come in 12-24, or 24-48 hours, doesn't matter, NOW somebody told me it's actually not Thursday, but it could also be Friday, what, is this a joke? So FINE, I waited at home today expecting the package and yet, you know what? Yes, nobody came again and no package came again. I called again at 5 and you know what it is this time? The staff told me they only ship on Mondays... WHAT? Now it's ONLY Mondays?

So what exactly DHL is telling me is that their time is money and they don't have time to waste on me, a customer, not even a minute; but my time means nothing and they can waste my time in whatever way they feel like. Does my time seem so unimportant to them? This is ridiculous and the poorest service EVER!!!

AND it was sent with EXPRESS.

(but nothing compared to yours though...)
