We Love Bariloche!

Isn't this just beautiful??? The days are all like this-perfect! We really like it here.
First day exploring the town. Bariloche reminds us a lot of Lake Tahoe. And since we have been accosted by tremendous winds in El Calafate and up Route 40, frozen in the south in Ushuaia and suffocated in the heat of Buenos Aires, the weather here seems absolutely perfect;the sun is out, the birds are singing, people are lying by the lakeshore, we are ready to dip our toes in then walk through downtown checking out the t-shirt and chocolate shops along the way! Day 3- after a picnic Levi went for a rest and I went for a walk out at the end of Bariloche where there was a forest of these trees. The bark was this rusty red, peely, and was cool to the touch, but overall smoother than I expected.
The walk kept giving me views like this...
And when I finally finished I saw all those mountians and a huge lake in front. I then went back to wait for the bus which took over an hour. Then it dropped me just 7 km later at the next bus stop where I had to wait again, then that bus took an hour and a half to go 25 km! I didn't get home til 8, but I was ready around 5:30...
Today we took a tour out to the famous "black glacier", which is called this due to the dirt and silt mixed into the ice, as you can see. Quite different from the gorgeous blue ones we saw in Torres Del Paine!
We had three separate hikes, one was to this waterfall and to the other side is a view of the glacier.
Here I am holding a piece of ice from the glacier. It was cold.
The ice is constantly heating and breaking off in giant chunks. The sound is like a long, low rumble and follows the fall by about 4 seconds.
A view of the glacier with the river that flows from it. The glacier is where the river is born, so says our guide Eduardo.
One of the flies that surround the glacier. They were SO annoying, and they were huge, there were millions, and they bite!
Nice pose! I climbed up to the top and wanted to get my foot on the highest point, then Levi took this and said I looked like Captain Morgan. Funny.
Favorite shot of the day!
