The week in review...

Monday we went to the Natural History museum with Johanna, my awesome intercambio (friend!). The museum was really cool with crazy dinosaur bones and lots of rocks and other interesting things to see. Photos to come...

Then we went to get a drink/snack in Plaza Serrano, because it was SOOO hot and we needed to cool down. We ordered and were eating when a kid came up asking for money for something to eat. Johanna started by asking if he wanted a piece of pizza. He said he didn't like the leaves (basil on it) so she picked them off. Then he started running his fingers over the cheese, occasionally poking it and thinking about it, before finally declaring that he didn't like pizza. So he left without food, so we guess he just wanted the money. But Levi was a bit irritated because he was going to take it home for later, but he didn't want "finger pizza" so we left it.

Wednesday was my last class of the year-yay!!!- so we celebrated with a fancy dinner made by Levi. So wonderful.

Thursday I got sick again! I swear this city just goes right to my ears, nose and throat. Anyway I rested during the day ten met my friend for dinner, which was fun, then made a few phone calls and then went to bed. Not too exciting, though I did go to the pharmacy for cough medicine and here they have all sorts of intereting products. Next to where I was looking was all the, ahem, intimate items, and they had a "lubricante intimado" called Get In. I saw it, read it, it took me a minute to register, then I started laughing out loud which of course was really cool, but that was just so funny. Direct advertising, I guess!

Friday we went with Johanna to the Japanese Gardens which are really pretty and not too far from our place. They have a little bridge and some koi and ponds and different flowers and stuff, then we walked to the mall for a coffee and some shopping. We were looking around in a few stores and finally in one Johanna just looked at us and started laughing.

" I have been in this store so many times and they just totally leave me alone. They must have a radar that says 'tourist! foreigner!' because we had four people come and ask to help us within 10 minutes!, and it's always 'Where are you from?' as soon as you open your mouth!" She couldn't believe it.

"Welcome to our world!" Levi and I replied, "Now you see why it's so hard to practice our Spanish, everyone wants to speak to us in English!"

She just couldn't believe it.

Then we went and had a coffee, I bought a dress, and we saw a restaurant called Lomo Sapiens. It was a very fun day!
